Celebrate our Heritage and Commitment to our Parish Community and Local Community:
All Advent: 2017 Reverse Advent Calendar Food Collection “I was hungry and you gave me food!” This is the second year for the St. Stanislaus Reverse Advent Calendar to fill our Food Pantry during the Holidays. We encourage all our parishioners to add a non-perishable grocery item to your box each day of 10 Advent season, and then on Christmas Eve or day to donate the contents of this box to the St. Stanislaus Food Pantry. This program will run from Sunday, November 26 thru Sunday, December 24, 2017. On Christmas Eve (or day) just bring your donations to church and place them by the statues of St. Patrick and St. Florian.
December 16: Christmas Concert The Saint Stanislaus Pride Committee will host a "Festival of Music" Concert on Saturday Evening, December 16th at 6pm. Our surprise Celebrity MC (Master of Ceremony) will be introducing musicians, performing everything from sacred Christian pieces, traditional Christmas favorites, and even a little gospel! Our very own Jerry and Pam Peters are accompanying our guest musicians, and will also be featuring the world class acoustics of our organ and building! Raffle baskets, and refreshments will be offered during intermission and Santa himself is rumored to be making an appearance! Tickets are $15.00 at the door and all proceeds help St. Stanislaus further its message of Open Doors, Open Hearts, and Open Minds. Any questions please call Allen Irby, Pride Committee Chair at 314-608-4110.
December 17: “Opłatek” Reception The traditional Christmas “Opłatek” Reception will be celebrated on December 17th in the Polish Heritage Center following the 9:00 a.m. Mass (the only Mass that Sunday). We invite you all to join us as we cultivate this beautiful Polish custom of breaking off a small piece of the opłatek wafer and sharing it with one another, along with a blessing or a wish. Breaking off and exchanging part of opłatek with someone, is a symbol of forgiveness between two people and is meant to remind participants of the importance of Christmas, God, and family. Fr. Marek’s 43rd birthday will be celebrated that day as well.
December 24 & 25: Christmas Schedule On Sunday, December 24th, at 9:00 am and 11:00 am Masses we will celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Later on the same day, at 10:00 pm “Midnight Mass” we will begin the Season of Christmas. On Christmas Day (Monday) December 25th, solemn Masses of the Nativity of Our Lord will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. (English) and 11:00 a.m. (Polish). Invite your friends, neighbors, and family to experience the spirit of Christmas in our beautiful church!
December 30: Way of Lights We continue our beautiful, eight years old, tradition of a communal tour of the “way of Lights” at Our Lady of the Snows Shrine in Belleville, Illinois. We invite you all to meet with us on Saturday, December 30th at 5:00 p.m. (after 4pm Mass) at St. Stanislaus’ parking lot - from here we will travel together by bus. At the Shrine we will have supper at their restaurant, and then we will enjoy the beautiful drive through the “Way of Lights”.
January 6 & 7: Epiphany, blessing of the chalk During all Masses on Epiphany (Wise Magi) weekend we will bless small pieces of chalk. According to the Polish custom we encourage all Parishioners to mark the doors of their homes with that blessed chalk, signing them with C+M+B 2018 symbols. In doing so we ask God's protection and blessing upon those who live, work or visit throughout the coming year. It is also a visible sign that we have invited God’s presence into our homes.
January 21: “Wine & Jazz” Party We will be hosting our annual wine tasting event on Sunday, January 21st at 12:15 p.m. in the small meeting room of the Polish Heritage Center. This year, we will be enjoying delicious wines alongside great, live Jazz music! Please bring your favorite bottle of wine to sip and an appetizer to savor and share, along with your own wine glass. Prizes will be awarded to the top three wines to be voted on by the participates. With any questions, please call Greg or Chris Zinselmeier at 636.493.0979.
